_Testimonials for Dr Ross Perry helping people and their pets, especially birds, and wildlife in his capacity as a holistic vet and bird specialist

_Many testimonials have been written to and about Dr Ross Perry over the years as a holistic vet and bird specialist. This is a small collection of some of the more recent ones.

I again thank those people who wrote them. They were all unsolicited, yet I do appreciate it when people say thank you. It is not always easy, and can at times be most challenging being a vet, a bird vet, a "specialist" and a holistic vet who not only needs to help the "patient" but who often is given the opportunity to help the "custodian" address health issues, especially emotional ones concerning the loss of and passing of pets.

If Dr Ross Perry has helped you and/or your budgies or other pets, please tell us here, provided you are happy to have your name without email posted with the testimonial

Testimonials for Holistic Vet and Bird Specialist Dr Ross Perry

_

"Dr Ross Perry graduated as a vet BVSc(Hons) from University of Sydney in 1972 and was registered as Australia’s first Bird Specialist  by examination in Caged and Aviary Bird Health in 1993 when he was awarded FACVSc(Avian Health). Dr Ross Perry subsequently served as an examiner for the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Caged and Aviary Bird Health.

Dr Ross Perry is the author of many articles and book chapters, as well as “Vade Mecum 2 Diseases of Birds” published by Post-Graduate Foundation in Veterinary Science, University of Sydney and “Caring for Birds with Love and Gratitude”. He served as Dial-A-Vet for 3.5 years on Sydney radio 2GB, and was featured many times on Animal Hospital, a television production by Channel 10.
He has served as a vet from various locations in the Sydney region: Sylvania Heights, Forestville, Duffy’s Forest, Terrey Hills, Thornleigh, Homebush and Cromer (before migrating to Elanora on the ridge between Currumbin and Tallebudgera Creeks, Gold Coast in Sept 2011).

“Dr Ross Perry has, for the past 18 years, been caring for my many birds and ducks and countless native species that have come my way as a carer for a Wildlife Rescue organisation.
The amazing success stories and incredible 'small miracles' that I have witnessed are too numerous to list.

Aside from his vast knowledge and experience, Dr Perry has a remarkable ability and insight in terms of diagnosis and the observation of detail in the treatment of birds. He has come up with the right answer, in many, many cases when others have failed. This in-depth expertise, in my experience, is very rare in the Avian environment in this country.

He treats all creatures with love, respect and infinite patience & will go to endless lengths to save a life.” September 11, 2007

“Dr Ross Perry is a great man. He has heart and vision and an ability with animals and people that transcends intellect into heart based intuition. He is a leader. He has an entrepreneurs gift with a socially responsible heart. I would work with Ross or recommend him (as I am doing now) to anyone.” September 10, 2007

Testimonial from Daphne Turner 210811
Dear Pat and Ross,
Thank you for an informative day well planned and delivered.
I feel a little more confident now to go out and buy a good microscope and start playing with it as the first part of the seminar was extremely well delivered.
For me this is a great step as I have no official biology or science back ground and cherish the information Ross provided me with.
Perhaps I can now also pick up, with the naked eye, if my birds show any signs of infection.
I hope, should there be a follow up course, I will also be able to recognize bacteria from normal plant matter and  I will gladly take part in any further seminars.
It was wonderful to have both Ross and Derrick willing and able to discuss what I had found under the microscope, matters that were totally evident to them but foreign to me.
Hobbled by colorblindness I will need some time to teach myself to recognize shapes and hues, those hues Ross mentioned.
My brain is totally orientated to artistic and linguistic skills so I trust I will learn in due time.
Ross you are always an inspiration and little would you know what an influence you have had on the well being of my youngest daughter, Chloe, who was a handful when I first visited you at your surgery in Homebush. She was diagnosed with Crohn's desease in 85% of her gut which has now reduced to her colon only.
She is doing a diploma in naturopathy and pharmacology and aspires to study medicine to become a holistic practitioner, largely related to my faith in you and your beliefs.
I have 2 galahs that should have been dead were it not for you responding to e=mails at 10pm. They are both alive and happy birds.
All the best in Eleanora Queensland although I'll be looking forward to your consultations here in Sydney.
Please let me know if I can help providing facilities to consult.
Much love, Daphne Turner

WOW! What a truely AMAZING man A REAL BIRD VET! Here is my little story: Ever since I was a toddler I was alway playing with animals even insects. I'd spend hours just chatting and getting to know my new furry, feathered and scaley friends - most would often set out to find me, usually sick or lost and some just for a visit. Yet they're all offering me valuable 'lessons in my life' teaching me about myself and to manifest unconditional love! If you listen closely and quietly, look into their soul and feel their energy they will speak to you. I'm always rescuing some animal and nursing them back to health. As my years went by working for many different private and government animal organisations sadly I found that most considered some animals like weeds: if there's too many of them or if they don't suit or fit into 'their own desired category' then erradicate or forget them! This is 'specism' and I'm here to tell you it's NOT right! If we as a species are intelligent enough to live in a multicultural society then we have an obligation to live amongst our animal species in the same light without prejudgice and blame! We must look at how we have impacted on our surroundings and the animals that perish because of our doing it really is 'their world' "we are here FOR them" NOT the other way around... And so a week ago I was in Central City Sydney crossing the busy highway with two islands. While standing on the second island movement caught my eye. Looking down I saw a young Rock Dove in peril. Her right wing had been broken and hanging low dragging on the ground and her feet missing two digits from both feet. My heart sank for this poor beautiful bird. She wobbled up to me, tilted her head and leaned up against my leg. She needed my help. Watching others walk across the highway she started to follow. Desperately I stepped out and waved at the oncomming cars to slow the cars down to save her. Quickly I took my shirt off and scooped her up in my arms wrapping the shirt around her snug-PHEW!...Now I had to find somebody to mend her broken wing but who??? Several phone calls later and vets telling me if its not a wild dove (even though there is no scientific basis for the seperation of the words 'pigeon' and 'dove' and as a matter of fact Rock Doves 'are indeed wild' they were taken from the wild and bred in captivity for human gratification 'bird racing'!) they'll just euthanise it - made me more determined to find an Angelic Bird Vet who will NOT discriminate! Frantically searching the net...OMG A Dr Doolittle on UTUBE CHECK IT OUT!!! This genuine, compassionate man "Avian Specialist" was before my eyes, mending a 'Rock Dove's' broken wing AND she looked exactly like little 'Rocky'. I cried with joy! Here this MAN is giving his heart and soul caring for a species of bird that 99% of people consider a weed. But NO Dr Ross Perry is NOT prejudgice he SEES a BIRD, ANIMAL an innocent SOUL in peril who NEEDS HIM! I got so excited I told my flat mate who was so excitied too. A phone call later Rocky was appointed to join the hands of Dr Perry's world. My flatmate, I and Rocky are so very grateful to Dr Perry. His gift of healing and generosity is certainly admirable; a lesson 'all vets' should learn. All the animals which come into his world are blessed with unconditional love and healing! I have now found a friend, with whom I can relate to and shall treasure and share with you all "Veteran Avaian Specialist Dr Ross Perry". With respect and honour Yvette-Louise, Resh & Rocky. xxx :-)

141011 on facebook: Khara Kubatka I'll never forget visiting you many years ago near parramatta, with my Bird Rory, and you introduced me to Reiki by astounding me by gently sedating my cranky cockatiel just by holding him in your hands, as you had just been attuned in india i think? from memory.., 10 or so years later i have also been attuned and will never forget my first introduction to such a wonerful energy. Thank you, i still have my cranky cockatiel. I will also be heading up north next year..might have to look you up! x

COMMENT - Hello Doctor
I just wanted to thank you for saving the life of my pet B&G Macaw a few years back. He was very sick, and you asked me to take photos of the bird etc. and then you advised some medicines. Later he gained health and now is with another owner and is doing quite well.

Hi Ross,
Thank you for your comment :) I certainly have lot to learn about keeping Sivi healthy and happy. I don't mind you using my pictures for your websites.
I really enjoyed the time with you on Saturday and I would again like to thank you for all the time you gave me and Sivi. It was very valuable to me and  I was just taken by your ability to calm him. that was amazing. he stayed really timid and sweet for the rest of the day. I have been giving him his medication twice a day. He always wiggles and tries to escape, but i think i am getting better at administering it. i hope it will help him.

021110 SootyKitty: I'm so glad that I found you. I love watching your videos. I work with rescued birds of all kinds, some wild ducks, geese, chickens, and of course parrots. Your videos have helped me understand more about birds than I could ever have gained from any book. Thanks for doing this!

Thumb up for this series. Interesting, informative, and good sound.
I would second Ross here please if you can at all do order Dr.Ross's book, there is so much valuable information on how to keep your bird happy and healthy!!! Margrit Bayer 091110

I wish you had my book "Caring for Birds with Love and Gratitude" . So many aspects of management that might in future be done differently. In short learn from nature, what does nature do, am I coming from love or fear. I refuse to clip wings tho I did so for first 25 years in practice from 1972. Synthetic rope perches are major health hazards and often cause obstructions with matted fibres.
I say a sincere thank you. Cheryl

Hi Ross.. Its Tink - U prob. don't remember me but I was the one that spoke about speciesism and the star fish story in a Smws COURSE and one of the students that brought u a kookaburra at a course we did at sydney uni and I did the Calm on him.. and then the cheeky darlin gave u a love tap on your finger. I just wanted to say Thankyou for being the man that has shown me the truth about healing. Some people may say I am essentric with doing the Calm on all my animals but I believe it is the only way we can even begin to understand our interwoven web of connection.... U taught me to question the answers I get.. Ive learnt that by questioning answers the truths u stir up can be based on lies. I think asking questions can always help us become better at what we do...Thanku thanku thanku... always forever and beyond Tink Magic xxx

I have learned so much from watching your valuable youtube videos. Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge and understanding of the lovely creatures that us humans have been entrusted with in our lives.

Dear Dr. Perry,
It is a pleasure to accept your Facebook friendship. Sometime ago we posted on our FB page some of your videos on the plants that parrots love to eat in Australia, very interesting and useful. I was in touch with you a few years ago when we were campaigning in Europe for the wild bird import ban, and I was very glad for your support! Our Friends page on Facebook has more or less reached the 5000 friends limit, so we are moving to our Fans page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/World-Parrot-Trust/204847128458 If you are not a fan yet, please click on the Like button. With best wishes, Cristiana

Cheryl Nugent you helped me with your natural remedies Ross many years ago with a peach face I had years ago, he had Pollyfooiculosis quite badly. The remedies were a big help (as was the Elizabethan collar) he got to live a near normal life until 10yrs old. Although one budgie did contract it from him no other bird became infected. You worked marvels with him! 150611.

At the rate it is eating away at her 5 days to wait on results is ridiculous.. I have the best ever vet in sydney Ross Perry but not every one has the means to get to him. I dont trust many people when it comes to animals and I also am a bi...g believer on alternative things too. I could just hear jez wimpering when I was on the phone to my friend and she is on metacam. Im worried about Jez.If I had wings Id fly her to Ross and if I had a microscope connected to my computer I could send a swap via email.

Sheila wrote "Thank you Dr. Perry. I have already watched a few of them. I really enjoyed the video on the possible new disease. Very interesting. I love how you have actually shown the gram stains and bacterium in the video. You are very good with birds, I love the way you handle them. Wish you were in the states. We have one avian vet were I am, she's good but wish I were in Australia, lol. I like the way you explain things, are you also a teacher? What was the final outcome on the two birds?"

Hello Dok, I cant tell you how thankful i am and my vet friends for the information that you share with us! as you are our only source in addition to books but still I could not find any satisfactory book for vet's who work with exotic animals Want to ask you about an African gray parrot who seems to suffer from yawning he been treated with Oxytetracycline + Spectinomicine for 40 days but still he is yawning no respiratory manifestation were noticed nose were check and it is open. as you said in your last message that parrots yawn from respiratory but I didnt understand if it also can occur because of liver issues. but here i think it is the liver, the problem is that we have no lab who can test the parrot blood as they need at least 2 ml of blood at least.! How to go further from here??? Lungs and airsacs sounded good on auscultation! btw the parrot is feather picking all his body but espicially the wings!! (even though now decreased after changing the environment!) Thanks again !

Hi Pat
Thank you so much for organising the Sunday workshop with Dr Ross Perry.  I came away with a slight headache from all the facts I was trying to cram into my small headspace  Ross really is a national treasure and it was so good to have access
to his expertise - especially since we won't have  it so readily for much longer.
See you at the next meeting.
Cheers, Caroll
