Post-mortem Examination and Necropsies
When a budgie dies unexpectedly or from unknown causes, and especially when multiple budgies have been dying in an aviary I highly recommend that your avian vet be asked to perform a post-mortem examination and necropsy as soon as possible after the death. This can reveal much information to help you learn to prevent more deaths and recognise much more. It can and often reveals among other things evidence of avian chlamydiosis, a zoonotic disease that may have already led to infection of you and/or other members of the family. It can be very important to know this.
